That said you might have seen, lots of Whisky blogs use some kind of scoring system to tell you how good the Whisky is, in their respective minds, that is.

But as a fellow Whisky blogger pointed out (here, in German) nearly anybody tells their audience, how to interpret these points or what they mean to them. I posted my scoring system a while ago on my blog, but even I needed some time to locate it again. Therefor I decided to put my scoring system right at the top of my site.

Here’s how I score my Whiskys

Points Verdict
the 50s lacks balance or character, probably never meant to be bottled as a single
the 60s enjoyable but unexceptional
the 70s worth tasting, especially above 75
the 80s distinctive and exceptional
the 90s the greats
